Pauline Paul

Obituary of Pauline Barbara Paul

PAUL, Pauline Barbara “Barb” – age 79, of Indian Brook. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, who passed away with her family and loved ones by her side on February 21st, 2024, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Barbara was born on June 20st, 1944 and was the biological daughter of the late Mary (Cope) Maloney and Alonzo Maloney.  She was raised by her parents, the late John and Bella (Francis) Maloney.

Barbara spent most of her life in Indian Brook and many years working as a custodian for the Indian Brook band, until her retirement in 2015. Barb was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and family and helped them in whatever way she could.  She especially gave her unconditional love to her grand-children and the little ones. Barb loved life and socializing, and gave her love to all she met through her teasing nature, and the sharing of laughs.  It goes without saying that Barb was a major “bingo fan” and was a regular at most of the local bingos.  She always looked forward to attending her Elder Group gatherings and her annual pilgrimage to Saint Anne De Beaupre.  She loved her community events and if there was music, she was always the first one on the dance floor.

Barbara is survived by her children, Norma Jean Paul, Sarah Paul and Barbara Paul, all of Indian Brook; her special son, Harry Lafford (Eskasoni); her pride and joy – her 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; siblings, Marie Francis, Ruby Maloney, Sonny Maloney, Jim (Jake) Maloney; and many special nieces, nephews, godchildren and foster children.

Besides her parents, Barbara is predeceased by her late husband, Patrick Paul; daughter, Starleen Paul; siblings, Alfred, Reg, Lenny, Herbie and Peter Maloney, Josephine Prosper, and Philomena Googoo.

Visitation will begin at 5pm on Saturday February 24th, 2024, at the family home at 139 Sesame Street, Indian Brook, until time of funeral service. A funeral mass is planned for 1pm on Monday February 26th, 2024, at St. Kateri’s Roman Catholic Church, Indian Brook- see the funeral home website and Facebook for weather related delays. Cremation will follow.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit, Colchester Hospital, for the special care and kindness they showed Barbara during her illness.

There will be an online salité.
