Obituary of Lowell Wellington Rose

Rose, Lowell Wellington- age 81, of Enfield, passed away August 14, 2015 in the VG Hospital, Halifax surrounded by his loving family. Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late Orville and Julia (Sedore) Rose. Lowell loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed old time country music and loved watching western movies. Lowell served for 34 years in the Canadian Coast Guard as 3rd engineer. He began his career in Dartmouth, and other than a brief time serving in Charlottetown, PEI, he remained in Dartmouth serving on various vessels until his retirement in 1990. During his long career, he saw many changes in the Coast Guard, and remained dedicated to the service. He was awarded an exemplary service medal and bar, presented to him by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia in 2006. Lowell will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Manuel) Rose; his children, Kathy (Mike); Orville (Teri); Stephen; Dianne (Neil); Colleen (Greg); grandchildren, Jason; Tiffany; Chris; Courtney; Dawn; Blair; Ben; Amanda; Jennifer; Michelle; Kaitlin; Matthew; great-grandchildren, Abbi; Easton; Olivia; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Kay; Eileen; and twin brother, Lewis. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. No visitation by request. A Legion Service will take place in Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2 Shubenacadie at 10:15am, Tuesday, August 18, followed by a funeral service at 11am, Fr. Michael Walsh officiating. Private interment to follow. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Lowell may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes say a special thank you to the nurses on 4B at the VG. And also to granddaughter Courtney, RN, for the special care she gave when visiting her grandfather, as well as to all Lowell’s grandchildren for spending time with him while he was in hospital.
